University of Waterloo Vietnamese Students' Association is a cultural club connecting students to Vietnamese culture and community through cultural and social events. Joining in Winter 2025, I've been in UWVSA for 4 terms now and gained experience in marketing aspects of the club!

My role as Vice President Marketing includes developing and overseeing graphic design, photography, and videography aspects of marketing, coordinating promotional and social media posts, and collaborating with Events and Sponsorship teams.

CONTENT CREATION AND VIDEOGRAPHY:
Our primary platforms are on Instagram and TikTok, where I contribute to content planning/creation and social media campaigns to promote our events and sponsors. With over 2.1k followers on Instagram and 17.4k followers on TikTok, our content is focused on trends or innovative ideas to expand audience reach, boost engagement, and connect with the student community.
Our strategy for effectively promoting events involves carefully planning the release schedule for promotional content. Typically, graphics are posted about a week before an event, followed by a reel released closer to the event date to build anticipation and engagement. For larger-scale events, we also develop teaser campaigns and produce additional reels to maximize reach and generate excitement leading up to the event!

During our 2026 Lunar New Year promotion, our Instagram content had reach over 465,000 views within a 30 day period, reflecting a 655% increase in accounts reached. Some notable insights during the promotion can be viewed below.





PHOTOGRAPHY:
During our events, I am responsible for capturing high-quality photos that are later edited and posted on our recap posts and on a public folder for attendees to view. I focus on photographing key moments, performances, sponsors, and event attendees!

In Winter 2026, I assisted with the senior executive photoshoot as the Director of Photography and Colorist. The aesthetic was a 90s Vietnam inspired photoshoot with each department having their own unique style.







The photos were edited in Adobe Lightroom for basic colour and exposure adjustments before being handed off to Joanne Lang for the final design process. View the final version below!
T&T WINTER 2026 LUNAR NEW YEAR SPONSORSHIP REEL:
In preparation of our annual Lunar New Year festival, UWVSA secured T&T Supermarket as a sponsor for the event. As part of the sponsorship deal, marketing team was tasked with creating a short video promoting their Lunar New Year products as well as the T&T app. Given this creative freedom, the team came up with a lot of ideas.
The marketing team developed a runway-themed concept to showcase Lunar New Year products. Inspired by Chanel's Subway Runway video, models with traditional Vietnamese áo dàis walk down the aisles of T&T, picking out Lunar New Year products.
As the director of photography and camera operator, I used a gimbal to capture smooth tracking shots of the models. I also contributed to the rough cut of the reel by selecting the strongest shots for the final edit, which was then handed off to Joanne Lang.
This project was a fun, cinematic reel that differed from our previous sponsorship videos and allowed us to gain experience working on higher-production content for future sponsorship projects.
